Ma Famille

I got an email from my host mother today, and I got to know a bit about them: Mes parents are both nurses (Madame has retired) and they have three children, all of whom are out of the house. They live in an adorable little house only about a mile and a half from where I will be attending school. They have a parakeet, and they keep a garden. They have had exchange students before and Madame told me that they have really enjoyed having them. They don't speak any English, but she says that they speak with their hands like the Italians, so I should have no problem learning and adapting.
I wasn't expecting to know anything about my host family until three days before my departure, so this is a wonderful surprise to have gotten to correspond with them. They seem so great, and I cannot wait to meet them in person at the airport and to begin our journey together.

Un Commencement

This is all a new beginning for me; a new country, a new language, a new experience, a new home. I am heading out on this journey to learn and feel and grow, and I'm very excited to see where it takes me. I will be living and studying in Pau, France for the next 7 months, and this is where I will tell of my adventures.
Of course, I am a bit nervous for this beginning, but more than anything I'm open to whatever life has to show me: meeting new people, developing a second language, eating different food, and exploring a new town (not to mention the Pyrenees Mountains).

Bon Voyage!
